GENERAL INFORMATION
Jerk refers to a traditional Jamaican way of seasoning and cooking meat, fish, vegetables or fruit. Our mix is blended when you order and is made from ethically sourced coriander, onion, garlic, allspice, thyme, black pepper, cinnamon, paprika, cloves and nutmeg. This blend comes in three varieties: mild, medium and hot. The medium blend also includes cayenne and the hot includes habanero.
CULINARY USES
Traditionally, the jerk seasoning is used in making the Jerk Marinade. After the item has been marinated, it is slow roasted over a fire of pimento (allspice) branches. If you are pressed for time, or lacking in pimento branches for a fire pit, the mix is just as nice sprinkled over seafood, meats, veggies or poultry before grilling. Try mixing it into ground chicken for a flavourful jerk chicken burger or meatloaf.
