Derived from the Arabic word for black pepper, Baharat simply means “spices” in Arabic. In African Baharat, which generally originates in Tunisia, cinnamon, turmeric and rose petals play an integral part in this fantastic mix. This blend is mixed by hand and includes black pepper, coriander, cumin, allspice, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, paprika, nutmeg, rose, turmeric and spices.
Slightly hot, warm and full flavored, this blend is amazing on lamb, chicken, beef, fish and soups. Try sprinkled on roast vegetables or check out our recipe for Baharat Chickpea and Potato Stew!
